…Roman Military Camp (1st-3rd Century)…

Nestled on a flat plateau above the picturesque Trebižat River, the ancient archaeological site of Gračine is a historical gem in the village of Humac, just 2 km southwest of Ljubuški.

Dating back to the 1st-3rd century, this site once housed a Roman military camp. Partially researched and restored between 1977 and 1988, the site has revealed fascinating remnants of a Roman military complex.

During the excavations, numerous artifacts were discovered, including pottery, jugs, vases, coins, jewelry, rings, glass, tools, and weapons. While a small selection of these items is displayed in the Museum of the Franciscan Monastery of St. Ante, many of the finds remain unexhibited.

In recognition of its historical significance, Gračine was declared a national monument in 2003.
