The Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos is one of the most significant Orthodox landmarks in Sarajevo and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the Balkans.

Completed in 1874, this monumental structure is a stunning example of 19th-century religious architecture, built by the renowned Macedonian builder Andrija Damjanović.

The church’s striking five-domed design and intricate interior decoration make it a must-see for visitors.

Interesting fact: the church was partly funded by donations from local citizens and even received a contribution from Sultan Abdul Aziz himself. Located in the heart of Sarajevo, this historical gem reflects the rich cultural tapestry of the city.

During the tumultuous years of 1992-1995, the church remained unscathed.
