The Franciscan Monastery of St. Peter and Paul in Livno is a significant historical and cultural landmark, dating back to 1854.
Built under the guidance of architect Franjo Moise and builder Ante Cecilijania, the monastery has undergone numerous expansions and restorations over the years, making it a valuable national monument in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 1995, the monastery established the Franciscan Museum and Gallery Gorica-Livno (FMGG), dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the Livno region.
The museum houses an impressive collection of archaeological artifacts, including a unique 3,660-year-old wooden burial structure, ancient coins, and relics from the prehistoric, Roman, and medieval periods.
The Gabrijel Jurkić Gallery within the museum showcases over 150 paintings and 6,000 drawings by the renowned artist, who spent the last years of his life at the monastery.
The monastery church, completed over 50 years, is a remarkable architectural feat, featuring works by notable artists and builders, including a beautifully painted interior by Marko Antonini. The library holds rare books, manuscripts, and a valuable medical collection.
