Originally a department store, it was repurposed as the gallery’s home in 1953. Despite suffering severe damage during the siege of Sarajevo, the gallery was restored thanks to Swiss government support and continues to serve as a cultural beacon in the heart of Sarajevo.
Throughout its history, the gallery has hosted over 900 exhibitions and published more than 150 works. Despite challenges, the gallery remains a vital institution dedicated to the arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
