In just a few short minutes, you’ll find yourself ascending to a captivating elevated terrain where the awe-inspiring stećci await your discovery.
Explore those Enigmatic Nekropolis of Mramor with 80 Stećak Tombstones: Discover 25 slabs, 8 chests, and 47 ridge stones, meticulously arranged in the west-east and north-south directions. Adorned with intricate designs including spirals, rosettes, twisted ribbons, and crosses, these monuments hold a mesmerizing allure.
Originating from the transitional zone between central and eastern Bosnia, the stećaks from the Olovo region exhibit a diverse array of forms, from slabs to pillars. Typically low, elongated, and slightly tilted, these monuments reflect the unique characteristics of the area, with ridge stones (resembling sarcophagi) being the most prevalent. Though often weathered and partially submerged in the earth, they remain poignant symbols of this historic region.
