Situated in the vibrant center of Tuzla, Turalibegova (Poljska) Mosque stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the city. Originally built in the late 16th century, this mosque was part of the extensive endowment (vakuf) of Turalibeg, a prominent Ottoman figure.

The mosque retains much of its original charm, with its location on the main city street, now named Turalibegova Street in honor of its founder.

Turalibeg was a significant historical figure, holding high positions such as the Sanjak-bey of Smederevo, Srem, and Zvornik. His contributions to Tuzla’s development were substantial, including the establishment of this mosque and a primary school (mekteb) nearby, around which a thriving neighborhood (mahala) grew by the end of the 16th century.

The mosque’s architecture reflects the traditional Bosnian style, with a single-room design topped by a four-sided roof, reminiscent of the original structure.

The recent revitalization project, led by esteemed academic Zlatko Ugljen and his team, preserved these historical elements while enhancing the building’s functionality.
