Tarhana

< 1 minute

Tarhana is a unique Bosnian dish consisting of dried, grated dough mixed with flour, salt, and eggs. This mixture is then cooked in a flavorful broth with a variety of vegetables and meat. With its roots traced back to the Turkish influence in the region, tarhana is a comforting and hearty soup known for its two versions: plain and sour, the latter featuring the addition of tomato juice. Originally a humble food for the less fortunate, tarhana has become a beloved traditional soup throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, known as “tarhana” or “tarana” in most regions, while in the Krajina region it is referred to as “trahana.”
