Discover the stunning natural beauty, rich historical heritage and vibrant cultural traditions of the Herzegovina region on the ĆIRO Bike Trail.
Built in the period 1885-1901, this narrow-gauge railway connected Mostar with Dubrovnik and Konavle in Croatia, and with Nikšić and Herceg Novi in Montenegro. The first “Ćiro” passed this railway on July 15, 1901.
Today, the remains of the old railway line, its stations, tracks, tunnels, bridges and buildings are still visible.
For cyclists looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, the ĆIRO cycling path is the perfect way to explore the stunning landscapes of southern and southeastern Herzegovina, southern Croatia and Montenegro.
The path follows the route of the old railway and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
Along the way, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in the region’s vibrant culture, explore its rich historical heritage and experience the warm hospitality of the local people.
The bicycle path largely overlaps with the Herzegovina Wine Route, and additional support can be found in the facilities along the trail certified according to the Bike Friendly standard.
